Our current range of cask (real) ales includes the best-selling Marston’s Pedigree (brewed in the famous Union Sets at Burton), Banks’ Bitter, Banks’ Original (Mild Beer), and a new guest beer each month next month’s offering being Mansfield’s “Bunter Bitter” (4.3%abv) available from early February (while stocks last!).

Our keg range includes Banks’ Smoothpour Bitter, Strongbow cider, Guinness, Irish Harp, Heineken and Fosters lager, and premium Stella lager. These are complemented by a full range of bottled beers and minerals and all the usual well known spirits.

We also have a good range of wines available by the bottle, and house wines available by the glass, carafe or bottle.

The Gate is well known for delicious home cooked food and, as well as our 25-seater restaurant we also serve a range of snacks and light bite meals in the bars and beer garden. As well as our main menu we always have at least 6 daily special dishes, and we recently introduced a new regular menu, copies of which are available free on request by e-mailing us with your name and address.

We can also cater for small parties (up to 30 for a sit-down meal and 40 for buffets) for weddings, parties, christenings, etc. We can also take bookings for business lunches and customers on a time budget using our fax or e-mail system (details available by e-mailing us.
